Chronic Cough

Trouble for adults and kids alike, a chronic cough can disrupt patients lives immensely.

Diseases like asthma, acid reflux disease and chronic infections can trigger a persistent cough.  Any cough lasting 4 weeks or more should be further investigated by an allergist or pulmonologist.  With today‚Äôs managed care regulations, physicians are often willing to wait and watch symptoms for a period of time before subjecting patients to costly testing.  Chronic cough is often one disorder that may be left untreated for months unless the patient or parent complains.

Simple measures of lung function and a chest or sinus x-ray are conservative, painless ways to begin the diagnostic evaluation of this condition.
